“Godless Arrogance” is the fifth album by the Dutch band Sammath; on the scene since 1994, they continue to offer pure Black Metal without compromise.

However, this album reserves an evolutionary approach, while maintaining anger and aggression, in fact, it presents a relatively bolder stylistic variation: Sammath have always expressed themselves with linear compositions aimed at enhancing the atmosphere rather than their technical-musical skills, but this time, track after track, the Sammaths drag us into their bloody battle scenario, tackling issues of hatred and mass destruction. With "Godless Arrogance" the band, supported by compatriot "Hammerheart Records", tries something more than the previous albums and does so by alternating fast Swedish-style Black Metal songs, such as "This World Must Burn", with more sophisticated passages and tempo changes, evident in the “Shot in Mass”. Good performance by drummer Koos Bos, except for some imperfections in the tempo changes, which create confusion with the rhythmic line of the guitars.

The performance is sometimes uncertain, perhaps due to an inaccurate recording, just like in the piece “Godless”. It is necessary to evaluate and assume that, after almost 30 years of career and four albums behind it, the band has acquired adequate experience to develop their musical projects with mastery, thus interpreting the smudges as the iron will to aim at the only goal to create a sincere sonic assault regardless of frills and details. The Sammath create "Chaos" and want to express themselves through "Chaos" and, if that is indeed their plan, then "Godless Arrogance" manages to find its proper identity.
