Demo 1
Label: Independent
Line Up: N/A
It doesn't take more than a moment to realize that with this “Demo1” we are faced with a real sonic assault, in which stylistic compromises are mercilessly dismembered by a sharp and direct riffing. The musical style of this mysterious one-man band is a raw and evil Black Metal that, at times, recalls the first albums of Darkthrone, above all for the conceptual intensity that emerges from the song titles, from the contents of the lyrics as well as from the great interpretative depth transmitted by the singing style. With a good balance between the fastest and most rhythmic parts, Noit's first work is the expression of the desire to channel dark and gloomy atmospheres towards the listener, enhanced by the choice of a summary and often confused recording, in which the real winning weapon of the one-man band is hidden. The same cannot be said of the drum machine; the latter, with more appropriate sounds, would have accentuated the impetuosity of the guitars that wriggle between swirling riffs, as in the song "Black Mass", and litany melodies, without respite.
The general sound is therefore affected by a timbre tending to highlight the medium frequencies that cause the typical "buzz" effect; however, a more accurate production would certainly have compromised the atmosphere of this work, smoothing out the peculiar dark character that defines it.
The ideas are there and the concept is clear, it is well understood by songs like "Mother", in which the instruments are adequately balanced with each other, or "Night Hunting" which highlights the composer's ability to develop his diabolical concept without inappropriate technicalities.
In a too stereotyped musical age, in which, even in Metal, the desire to satisfy the most mainstream requests is at the expense of a purer and more true artistic expression, this genuine "Demo1" by Noit is welcome, although in the next projects it is desirable a qualitative leap, necessary to have a definitive pass to hell!
