Active since 1999, this Teutonic duo releases its fifth full length, and also, in this case, the class and the band's technical skills are out of the question!
Modern songwriting, various and charming, where evil sonority mix with melody. In the nine tracks are perceived many influences, which create very personal and high-quality atmospheres. Clearly Swedish inspired outbursts alternate with slower moments to the limit of Depressive Black Metal; double bass, guitars walls, ethereal atmospheres complete the whole listening, embellished by
    "prog/heavy oriented" guitar solos!
Album's mix is perfect, sounds are balanced and every instrument is distinguishable and at the same time, they blend with each other creating a sonic magma that flows very well during the listening.
A steamrolling drum with acoustic sounds (a rarity in the nowadays' releases) supports admirable guitar's harmonizations, which are at times complex and tight, like in
"Imaginations through the horn-crowned skull" and in the following "Pulsar".
Acoustic guitar parts, which sound scratchy and acid, together with dynamic vocals which alternate classic Black Metal screaming with clean singing (who proudly soar on the solid musical base), in addition to acted suites like "Aus Tiefen empor...", give a very special and unique feeling to the music of Membaris.
It is hard to describe in few lines this
"Misanthrosophie"; it is recommended to take some time to listen to it to catch all its facets. It is useless to compare them with other bands, they have many different influences that never hide the personality of Membaris!
It is not daring to say that this album is one of the best releases of 2020!
