Kolossus was born in 2014 and, after the first years of settlement, in 2019, thanks to the MASD records label, they release a split album with the band Manon, a preview of the real recording debut that takes place in 2020 under Satanath records with “The Line of the Border”; the release allows the band to make itself known in the national and foreign underground Black Metal scene. In 2021 the discographic return thanks to My Kingdom Music by Francesco Palumbo. “K” is a really good album, excellent production, and just as the technical level of each musician. With “The Dust” we enter a dark evocative atmosphere, fully expressed by the acoustic guitar; "By the Light to the Dark" overwhelms with a guitar sound reminiscent of Dark Funeral "The Secrets of the Black Arts" period, however, the song is characterized by clean voices that give pathos, despite some slight imperfections in the intonation. “Heartless Horned kings” is the most structured song, in which the clean voices, combined with a scratchy screaming, raise the composition to the soundtrack of a journey through desolate lands; Of "The Last of the Titans", used for the presentation of the album, it is necessary to mention the lyric video which underlines the great devotion, expressed in the songwriting of the entire album, to the great Nordic bands (Gorgoroth and Mayhem above all). “Throne of wood and Fire” is a nocturnal journey into the most hidden meanders of our mind, glacial and well-articulated guitar riffing alternates with Dissection-style rides that release immense power! "Outsider", the second single from the album whose video clip can be viewed if you are not arachnophobic, is powerful, with a sound that also in this case pays the price to the Mayhem; direct and cutting guitars in "T.A.A." they bring emotional tension back to high levels. Thomas Myklebust's drumming is excellent, well played, and precise; the whole album is accompanied by dissonant arrangements such as the distorted arpeggio of the guitars; in "The Mouth" the acoustic guitars present in the initial part are very beautiful, confirming the positive opinion on Helliminator's work. Inevitable references to Satyricon of the first studio albums, Ulver and Storm, echoing in the melancholy central part, and a narrative background that releases all its expressiveness, lead to the end of this pleasant listening.
