The fifth album of Italian Black Metal band Infernal Angels is the natural continuation of its predecessors, as it follows the style of the by now more than twenty years old, admirable career and, with a so long experience, they rightly aspire to the first row of hell, due to the respect that this combo deserves.

The eleven tracks of "Devourer of God from the Void", released by the attentive Italian label My Kingdom Music, offer a tight and violent Black Metal, availing of a line up clearly technically skilled and cohesive with the only intent to create a great impact opus, who allows the listener to be taken in a concept well structured and fluent during the whole album length.

Worth to mention is the songwriting, which always shows captivating songs, rarely repetitive and able to alternate tight and melodic moments, gaining a stylistic coherence that is never trivial.

Drumming is solid as well, and the choice to keep a pretty natural sound gives much more credit to the good work of Bestia; bass guitar lines are well prepared as much as its production, while the vocals of the veteran Xes recalls somehow what we listened in Antaeus' "Blood Libels", pointing out once again a great technical experience, a good metric choice, but lacking at times a vocal extension which should be strengthened and improved.

"Devourer of God from the Void" is doubtless an excellent album, surely appreciable also at an international level, and it surely admirable for the deep efforts and devotion. In my opinion, the only lack is the final production, not totally worthy, which unfortunately penalizes an album that should have sounded more vehement, probably by working a little more accurately on the final mix.

Questionable is the choice to record a more than one-hour length album, especially for a so violent sonority work, but still thanks to the musicians' skills, rarely the listener gets bored, and never encounters "filling" parts, a trick notoriously used to increase the length of some albums.

In conclusion "Devourer of God from the Void" is surely a work that's worth the long career of the band, and offers a very interesting listening to the lovers of the most sincere Black Metal; with a more accurate production, nowadays Infernal Angels would have nothing to envy to more famous international bands.
