A challenging yet simple album, this little gem from The Cardinal, the renowned mastermind behind the excellent Black Flame, is a truly noteworthy work. Repetitive and haunting bass and guitar sounds create the dark ambient parts of the first two tracks. From "Reset_HS 4.0," we enter an Industrial Black Metal atmosphere characterized by fast, cutting riffs, supported by a violent yet essential drum machine, perfectly suited to the style. The following track, "Awareness_A Heart of Titanium and Gold," follows the same vein, featuring interesting synth inserts. The vocals seem like a distant, desperate lament, yet without slipping into the Depressive Black Metal style: violence remains the underlying concept, even on the vocal front. Imperium Omega's Somewhere Along the Way is not an album for purists: it encompasses everything the composer has projected into his own visions, offering us a dystopian future dominated by a void awaiting renewal. Composed during lockdown, the album conveys the claustrophobic feeling of helplessness typical of those days, traversing an indefinable genre that blends Black Metal, industrial, and soundtrack-like atmospheres. Every riff and synth sound is perfectly placed, a testament to the musician's maturity and visionary streak. A project that promises to be a treasure trove for those who enjoy an empathetic approach to works that take the form of true musical journeys.
