Genre: Atmospheric Black Metal
Line Up:

"Ablaze Above The Forest" is the debut album from Gygath, an international project composed of two permanent members from Italy and Sweden, Sorltiege and Swartadauthuz and joined by session musicians. Under the aegis of Amor Fati Productions, the album unfolds through tight riffing and a relentless use of blast beats, elements that give the work a pressing, pounding rhythm. While the opening immediately recalls the austere epics of Summoning, the progression of the work gradually shifts toward colder and more malevolent coordinates, perfectly in line with the evocative aesthetic of the cover artwork. The atmosphere, the core of the project, is further enriched by a skillful layer of synths that, intertwined with the guitars, significantly broadens the compositional scope. The production is characterized by a clear sonic duality: while the guitars and synths enjoy a crystalline and defined rendering, allowing us to grasp every melodic nuance, the drums maintain a deliberately less clear and raw timbre, giving the album a proudly underground aftertaste. In short, "Ablaze Above The Forest" confirms itself as a must-listen for fans of Atmospheric Black Metal that rigorously pays homage to the genre's pillars (Ulver "Bergtatt" and Burzum "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss"), including Forest, while still remaining open to more nuanced contemporary influences, such as those found in bands like Auðn and Ultha.
