The year 2019 and the Swiss Forsaken Legion are back angrier than ever thanks to their new album "Bloodline": pure Black Metal characterized by glacial and gloomy atmospheres, like their good debut album dating back to 2012.
A relatively long period between the two releases, undoubtedly, allowed the band to achieve a more precise stylistic and compositional identity, allowing them to present a less experimental, more orderly and convincing release.
Forsaken Legion demonstrate maturity in expressing themselves in music, thanks also to the technical ability of each musician: they demonstrate mastery in managing the goal of developing a precise and evil concept for the entire duration of the album, the songs are coherent with each other. and in the 40 minutes of "Bloodline", you never collide in improvised, filling or repetitive parts; a pleasant and smooth work from the first listening.
The themes touch on introspective aspects such as the heinous human conflict between being and soul, interesting and intimate research.
The quality of the recording is good, the work done in the studio can skillfully define each instrument and allows the band to obtain an overall professional sound, adequate to the compositional characteristics, often sought after, but always well managed.
We are therefore faced with a good album which, however, does not excel for originality: guilty of this lack due to the obvious inspiration to the Norwegians Immortal, from which Forsaken Legion drew a lot.
It should be emphasized that playing the aforementioned style with skill, as in "Bloodline", is not something for everyone, indeed it requires excellent ability and appropriate technical knowledge, but the proposal of the Swiss band does not manage to emerge totally in its being: yet the Forsaken Legion are a very capable band, as evidenced by songs like "Sweeping Torment" in which, in some situations, they express themselves more subjectively with excellent skills. This band deserves to give themselves a dose of courage, going to explore more personal solutions, which surely they would be able to handle easily
