A new creature named Feldvehn emerges from the woods of the Tuscan region to talk to us about nature, esotericism, folklore and does so by musically following the path traced years ago by the progenitors of the genre such as Drudkh and Darkhtrone. (Panzerfaust, Total Death). Behind the band, there is only Aasketh, active with the Industrial Black Metal project Hades Nexus 16, which we have already talked about some time ago, but here the mastermind gives vent to primordial instincts by fielding an album of classic Black Metal in Norwegian style more inclined to dreamy and mystical atmospheres. The six tracks that make up the work offer half an hour of rather linear music, the compositions are similar to each other, they are based on moderate drum times in speed and on long guitar riffs that vary between the rhythm of open chords and tremolo picking, all to create intimate atmospheres. The impression is that there is no structured compositional method, but rather a good dose of improvisation, for the succession of riffs and for the ending that comes suddenly going to cut off the passage; choices that recall the spontaneity and direct approach of bands like "Ildjarn". The global sound is in line with the proposal: reverberated guitars, audible bass, even if it follows the baseline, a mix of simple drum programming and drum samples with effective sounds, and a grave screaming that turns out to be the strong point of the album remind Nocturno Culto at the time of "Panzefaust" ... a "pleasantly clumsy" style, raw but impactful! Is to recommend listening to "The Oak", the listeners of the most classic Black Metal will certainly not be disappointed! Andrea B.
