Necrogenesis: Chants from the Grave
"Necrogenesis : Chants from the
Grave" is the new album of veterans Black Flame, released by the
Italian label Dusktone. As usual, they hit all marks, but this time
they pushed moreover and basically created the perfect album! The band knows exactly where to aim and
leave their mark, though keeping loyal to their roots and sounds
which made them, to be appreciated in the underground scene, releasing
the umpteenth product filled with high evil sonority. Opus' incipit is the title track, which
makes us descend into a crypt where the ritual takes place; a sinister
guitar riff creates a disturbing and growing litany, where voices and
bells increase the distress and prepare the loud assault to the
reckless listener. M:A Fog smashes the drumheads but without
resulting dominant on the other instruments, and his drumming
magnifies the also excellent guitars' work, made of typical Black
Metal tremolos, as well as a more influenced Death Metal style with
furious chords and palm mutings. Last but not least is the bass
guitar work of Silent, which without any virtuosity contribute to
make more powerful every track. Song after song and well skilled, with
this new album Black Flame leads us into the darkness of a catacomb. The main character of this diabolical opus
are the vocals of Cardinale, who is inspired and expressive,
tremendously evil and able to exalt the oppressive atmospheres of
every track.Songwriting, arrangements, and full
knowledge of own skills make this "Necrogenesis " a rare
gem in the crowded Black Metal scene; a must-have release in the
collection, who has nothing to envy the old classics.
