Genre: Black Metal
Label: Hidden Marly Production
Line Up:
The third album of the historic Italian band raises the level even further compared to the already excellent previous two albums, in this release speed, atmosphere and incredible executive technique come together to create a masterpiece of just over half an hour of Black Metal from the strong Swedish references, but with an undoubted personal and modern imprint that has matured over time.
The reduced productivity in terms of releases, allows the band to publish only high-quality albums, the seven years of waiting since the previous "Proclama" confirm this. At the level of songwriting, the ability to compose is amazed, making the development of the songs unpredictable, a succession of sharp riffs that draw, in part, also from a technical Death Metal, are the basis of the compositions and suddenly pass from very nervous palm-muting to more atmospheric openings; the impetuous and surgical drumming constantly varies according to the rhythms of the guitars, making the progress of the song dynamic. It is up to the bass, rather articulated, and the keyboards to enrich an otherwise dry base. On this occasion the work of the Synths is masterful, although they are very present, they are not invasive, but fundamental in the sound of the band.
Katharos' grave screaming adds, if that weren't enough, an extra dose of nastiness, making the songs true war hymns.
The production of "Insight" is valuable, like the albums released in the most renowned northern European studios, everything is distinguishable and lets you fully enjoy the remarkable skill of all the musicians, but at the same time, it creates an impenetrable sound wall well blended that will come goosebumps on more than one occasion!
"Century's Agony" opens the dance, devastating and melodic with unsettling riff changes; "Defeat of Mankind" starts airy, but after a while, you are overwhelmed by blind fury; "Never Unchained" with Swedish-style open guitars and the characteristic phrasing of synths, precedes the more direct "Bleed for your God" which, with an incessant emphasis, accompanies the title track, an ambient interlude that leaves respite for a few seconds before resume with "You ain't Worth Anything", open guitars and drums mix on a melancholy solo ending; "Empty Souls" follows with Thrash / Death references; the next song, "Dissolution" also follows this path, finally closing "Almightness" a modern riffing and original Synths inserts.
A fundamental album with which Adversam have left their mark in the history of Italian and international Black Metal, raising the standards to the level of the noble Nordic bands, founders of the genre, a work that reaches high qualitative peaks ... to have absolutely in the own collection!
