The second full length of "à Répit" was produced by the Finnish label Naturmacht Productions in 2021, about four years after their debut "Magna Leggenda" and two years after the split "Skulls-Bones-Death". "I Canti della Veglia" is a solid and convincing release from a compositional point of view, but even more from a conceptual point of view, the strong point of the album. Precisely in this last regard the duo, composed of Gypaetus and Skarn, has concentrated their efforts more, to give shape to a deep and elaborate concept, in which the listener is pleasantly involved from the very first tracks, intrigued and motivated the learn more about the disturbing hidden message. The album develops between music and lyrics, all in Italian, telling of ancient alpine legends, the dark side of nature, pagan demons, and everything that creeps between darkness and man, taking advantage of an overall cold and sharp, not particularly appreciable from a technical point of view, but suited to the character of a project that the musicians can skillfully elaborate. Both members of "à Répit" come from bands such as Nefarium and Entirety and their solid and long-lasting experience, although it does not stand out particularly in the 11 songs proposed, rather simple on a technical level, has nevertheless given rise to a varied recording and also curated in the management and balance suggestive samples and sounds as in the song “Amnios”. The overall sound has some shortcomings: in the parts where no synths, acoustic instrumentation, or clean voices are involved, which are easier to process in the production phase, the drums seem to have little impact and are almost overwhelmed by the excessive mid frequencies of the guitars, sometimes annoying, much better bass and voice instead. "I Canti della Veglia" remains, however, an extremely interesting work, capable, in just 50 minutes, of offering stylistic nuances that go from the most old school Black Metal of "La Roccia di Jean Grat" to Folk, up to touching the Stoner in the “Masnada” track, all while maintaining coherence and intensity, capable of realizing an incredibly suggestive experience.
