The Italians Evilspell were born in 2006, initially with the name Templars: they recorded 3 full-lengths and a split with the band Gemini(Ita), and they present themselves to the public with this new album released by Blasphemous Records, entitled "Padre Vostro". The angry Thrash-Black Metal proposed by this energetic band has its strong roots in the years of the genesis of extreme music, so Slayer and Venom emphasize the sound of "Horrid", "Padre Vostro", "Masonic Scum" which are passages one more direct than the other. The guitar riffs are engaging, with an approach to the "Tom Araya and friends" of the first albums, the rhythmic base, formed by Gigi on bass and Igor on drums, invites to wild and wild headbanging for the duration of the songs. The opening part of "Cardinal Rapist" seems to leave a moment of respite, but it is a sensation of short duration because after a few minutes the guitar and the voice of Filo take over and the acoustic tension is brought back to high levels. "Necrology", the next song, is a dark march played by an organ, a solemn homage to our Sister Death (free quote borrowed from the Poverello of Assisi), and is a worthy introduction to the second part of the album. "Antisocial Satan" is pure blasphemy, expressed directly and without many esoteric frills, the guitars of the song "Pain" are sharp, precise, rhythmic, and sinister especially in the central part of the song in support of the impetus transmitted. “Sacrifice” and “Evil Slaughter” close this remarkable album to be listened to under a stage drinking a couple of beers! Horns up Evilspell !!! Fulvio J.K.
