For this review, we take a step back in time. We were in the early 90s when Black Metal was a raw creature, similar to a visceral snake that silently crawled in the European music scene, especially in the Scandinavian peninsula. In these years, Baxaxaxa was born in the German underground. This album, produced by Dusktone label, is a collection in which the first demos are re-proposed: “Hellfire” from 1992, “The Old Evil” from 2019, and the Ep “Devoted to Him” released in 2020. A band that embodies the old-school Black Metal attitude without compromises, also capable of creating unhealthy atmospheres supported by the use of Synths. A lo-fi sound characterized by simple and direct guitar riffs in which fast parts alternate with slower ones almost to seem like Funeral Doom. The voice, (often with a delay effect), is cold and linear. The drumming adequately follows the musical composition, resulting rather basic. This compilation represents the origins of Black Metal, so it can't be missed in your old-school album collection!
